Samsung is always at the forefront of developing new technologies. Now that the 5G network rollout has started in several countries worldwide, the South Korean firm has started developing 6G telecommunication technologies.

The company has started working with ARM to accelerate the development of key 6G technology for parallel packet processing.

Samsung Research is researching SIMD technology for 6G with ARM

Samsung Research and ARM are collaborating to research parallel packet processing (SIMD or Single Instruction Multiple Data), one of the key technologies that will be used in 6G telecommunication. This research will be conducted as an open-source project. Since this technology processes vast amounts of data, the two companies are keen to accelerate their research on SIMD.

With the growth in data flow expected to happen in 6G, parallel packet processing is expected to be extremely useful for efficient and flexible communication systems. ARM will help the research with its vast experience designing efficient, high-performance, and low-power computing.

Jinguk Jeong, Executive Vice President at Samsung Research’s Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC), said, “In 6G communications, the importance of software technology is increasing. Innovation is crucial in handling the massive amounts of data that result from this. This technical partnership with Arm is a significant step towards revolutionizing parallel technology.

6G will be crucial in AI, robotics, and other devices. In our video below, you can watch one of Samsung's upcoming robots, Ballie.

Samsung Research's Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC) has been leading the development of new telecommunication technologies. It also actively contributes to the standardization of 6G technologies, including parallel packet processing.
