Samsung is going to launch three smartwatches at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, the Galaxy Watch 7 FE, Galaxy Watch 7, and the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. The third model will be a successor to the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and it will be much more premium than its predecessor. Hence, the name.

Well, we are now learning that Samsung has decided to give the Galaxy Watch Ultra a new name. According to Tech Maniacs, the name of Samsung’s upcoming premium smartwatch will be Galaxy Watch X and not Galaxy Watch Ultra as previous leaks and rumors had suggested. That's not all though.

The publication says that the Galaxy Watch X will be water resistant up to 100 meters and have an advertised battery life of 100 hours. For comparison, Samsung’s current flagship smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, is water resistant up to 50 meters and has an advertised battery life of 80 hours.

Longer battery life will be a result of a larger battery and Exynos W1000

Apple’s current flagship smartwatch, the Watch Ultra 2, is also water resistant up to 100 meters. However, it has an advertised battery life of 36 hours, which is far less on paper than that of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic or the upcoming Galaxy Watch X. So, Samsung will have a real stranglehold over Apple in this regard.

Reportedly, the Galaxy Watch X will have a larger battery than the Galaxy Watch 6 (578mAh vs 573mAh). That will be one of the reasons for it offering a longer battery life. The other factor pushing the battery life to 100 hours will be the Exynos W1000 chipset, Samsung’s first SoC made on a 3nm fabrication process.

We have already seen how the Galaxy Watch X looks. Hopefully, we will learn more about it as the launch date (10 July 2024) nears. At the next Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Do check out our video above to see how the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic fared in our test.
