Last week, Samsung released the May 2024 security patch to the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S20 FE for the United States. Now, the company is expanding the latest security update to the variant of the smartphone that it sells in Europe, North America, South America, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and some parts of Asia. It carries the model number SM-G780G.
The software update that brings the May 2024 security patch to the Galaxy S20 FE in these regions changes the phone’s firmware version to G780GXXSAEXE5. So far, Samsung has made the latest security update available in all the regions that we have mentioned above.
You can either get the latest software update over the air from Samsung by going to Settings » Software update » Download and install or by downloading the new firmware file from our database and installing it manually using the Odin software on a Windows PC.

Recently, Samsung released One UI 6.1 to eligible smartphones and tablets. It brings many new features including Galaxy AI. Sadly, the Galaxy S20 FE is not eligible to get the update as the company has already offered three new versions of the OS as it had promised at launch. To experience Galaxy AI, you’ll have to get a newer flagship-grade phone, such as the Galaxy S23 FE.
