Keeping up with trends, Samsung introduced several new AI-powered features with the Galaxy S24 earlier this year. The company will add even more AI features to its product portfolio in the next few months.
The company has announced that its Live Translate feature, which is part of the Galaxy AI experience, will be more useful in the coming months.
Galaxy AI's Live Translate feature will soon support third-party apps
Samsung has announced that the Live Translate feature, which debuted on the Galaxy S24, will expand to third-party apps soon. Right now, the feature is only compatible with the stock Phone app on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Once the feature is opened to third-party apps, you may use real-time language translation during calls made using apps like Telegram and WhatsApp.
While the company hasn't explicitly announced the names of third-party apps that will be compatible with Live Translate, it is likely that all popular VoIP calling apps like Facebook Messenger, Google Meet, Telegram, Viber, and WhatsApp. Watch our video below to see how the feature works in the stock calling app.
The Live Translate feature translates your voice to the preferred language of the person on the other side of the call. At the same time, it translates the voice of the other person into a language that you prefer. The live transcription of this two-way language translation is displayed on your phone's screen.
Samsung said in its press release that its research and development centres spread worldwide (including China, India, Poland, and Vietnam) helped it build the Live Translate feature. The role of its employees working in different countries and speaking different languages helped the company understand nuances in local languages and accents.
The company said it will bring more Galaxy AI features across different product categories in the future.
