Samsung has used AI in many of the new features that debuted with the Galaxy S24 series, one such feature being Instant Slow-Mo. Since the launch of the Galaxy S24, Samsung has improved that feature with continuous updates. Now, it will soon get support for HDR10+.
Instant Slo-Mo to support HDR10+ videos
The Instant Slo-Mo feature will soon support HDR10+ videos. Right now, you can't edit HDR10+ videos, convert them to slow-motion videos using the Instant Slo-Mo feature, and save them in HDR10+ format. You also lose the video's dynamic range when saving it in SDR.
The official moderator of the Samsung Community forum confirmed that the feature is under development and will be released with the next software update. However, they didn't confirm whether it will come with the next regular software update or a One UI update. The next update will also bring support for 480p videos.
The Instant Slo-Mo feature uses AI to generate frames based on the current frames in the video. It then inserts those AI-generated frames between the original frames to convert any normal video into a slow-motion video. Earlier, it didn't support 1:1 aspect ratio video, but Samsung added support for that aspect ratio with a software update.
