Samsung will launch the company’s next set of smartwatches at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which will take place on 10 July 2024. It will have three models, the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and the Galaxy Watch FE. Now, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has certified the three upcoming wearables.
According to various leaks, we know that the Galaxy Watch 7 will have four variants, SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, and SM-L315, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have one variant, SM-L705F, and the Galaxy Watch FE will also have one variant, SM-R861. Well, the Bureau of Indian Standards has just certified those six models (via 91Mobiles).
It suggests that Samsung is preparing to launch the three smartwatches in India. This isn’t surprising as Samsung has brought all the smartwatches it launched recently to the Indian market. However, the certification gives us a confirmation. The brand could launch the three wearables in India right after their global launch.
Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will have much faster processors
According to a recent leak, the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have a chipset with five CPU cores and a 3nm fabrication process. So, theoretically, the two smartwatches should be much faster and power efficient compared to Samsung’s current smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which have a chipset with a quad-core CPU and 5nm fabrication process.
The Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra will feature L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 6 series models have single-frequency GPS. So, the upcoming wearables will be able to track outdoor activities, including walking, running, and cycling more accurately. Along with that, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra will have 32GB storage. The current models have 16GB storage.
Stronger body and brighter display will be a part of the package
The Galaxy Watch 7 will be made out of Armor Aluminum 2 material, the next, and presumably more stronger version of Armor Aluminum that Galaxy Watch 6 models are made out of. The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will feature an even tougher material, Titanium Grade 4, similar to Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Watch 7 as well as the Watch Ultra will feature Sapphire Crystal protection on the display, similar to current models.
The story continues after the video…
The Galaxy Watch Ultra will also have 10 ATM water resistance. As for the display, the Galaxy Watch 7 will have a screen with 2,000 nits peak brightness, similar to the Galaxy Watch 6 series models, whereas, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will have a display with 3,000 nits peak brightness, the same as the Apple Watch Ultra 2. We recently got to see how the Galaxy Watch Ultra looks, you can check out the renders here.
The Galaxy Watch 7 will come in 40mm and 44mm sizes and in Wi-Fi-only and cellular variants. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will come in only 47mm size and only as a cellular model. All-in-all, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will have a stronger body, faster performance, brighter display, longer battery life, and more accurate workout tracking compared to the Galaxy Watch 6 series models.
What about Galaxy Watch FE?
The Galaxy Watch FE will be based on the Galaxy Watch 4, and it will be an affordable smartwatch, just like the Apple Watch SE. At the moment, that’s all we know about the Galaxy Watch FE. Hopefully, we will know more about the upcoming affordable wearable as we get closer to the Galaxy Unpacked event.
At the event, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3, and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which bring huge improvements over their predecessors.
