At the ongoing Infocomm 2024 expo in Las Vegas, USA, Samsung unveiled its Color E-Paper TV for the first time ever. It is a working prototype that uses a color e-ink display panel and can be used for advertising.

It can be used in places like malls, offices, public places, restaurants, retail stores, and various other places to display ads, menus, products, and more.

Samsung's Color E-Paper TV is meant for power-efficient advertising

Samsung's first Color E-Paper TV (model number EMDX) is an ultra-low-power 32-inch color digital display that can be used for advertising in various conditions and scenarios. The screen displays files from the onboard storage for advertising or any other need. It features QHD resolution and can display 60,000 colors. It is 17.9 mm thin and weighs just 2.9kg (excluding battery).

The South Korean firm claims this digital signage can display content without using any power. Yes, you've read that correctly. According to Samsung Electronics, the Color E-Paper TV can display content while consuming 0 watts of power. It uses power only when the content that's being displayed is changed.

As per the International Electrotechnical Commission's IEC62301 definitions, power consumption of less than 0.005W can be marketed as 0.00W.

The story continues after our transparent Micro LED TV hands-on video below.

The Color E-Paper display features 8GB storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and two USB Type-C ports (for power and file transfers). It has a Frame Deco Bezel, similar to Samsung's The Frame TV, and can be replaced easily. It is compatible with a 200 x 200 VESA wall mount. It can be installed in various places, including the ceiling, a table, or a wall.

Samsung is planning to launch the Color E-Paper display with a dedicated smartphone app that can be used to manage content that's stored and displayed on this TV screen. It can also be managed remotely in real time through the Samsung VTX solution.
