The smallest Galaxy S25 model will not get an upgrade in battery capacity, according to a new rumor. GalaxyClub reports that Samsung is testing the Galaxy S25 with the same battery specs as the Galaxy S24.

The battery will have a rated capacity of 3,881 mAh, which translates to an advertised typical capacity of 4,000 mAh. No information on the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra batteries is available, but that isn't surprising as we are still at least six months away from the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung increased the battery capacity of the compact Galaxy S models by 100 mAh in 2023 and 2024. Coupled with more efficient Snapdragon and Exynos chips, battery life on the base models has never been as good as it is right now. All Samsung has to do to keep fans happy is to not go backwards again, as it did back in 2022 when it launched the Galaxy S22 with a battery smaller than that of the S21.

There have been rumors that Samsung may use AI to improve battery life on the Galaxy S25 series by 10% without resorting to usual tricks like throttling the CPU and GPU or restricting background tasks. However, there is no solid evidence for those rumors at this time.

For now, Samsung's focus is on its new foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will go official next month, with the latter expected to bring a 300 mAh battery upgrade over previous models. Samsung will also announce its first smart ring and Ultra-branded smartwatch at its next Unpacked event, which is set to take place in Paris on July 10.
