The new Exynos 2200 chipset with AMD graphics got unveiled one week ago, but it hasn't taken the mobile world by storm yet. Samsung appears to be fairly confident in its new chipset, but there's not much to discuss regarding performance because Samsung's been alarmingly shy about revealing exact performance figures. Hopefully, the company is simply teasing its fans to generate some hype, and the Exynos 2200 will not disappoint.
Speaking of hype, Samsung has just released another “Official Introduction” video for the Exynos 2200 SoC. The video emphasizes mobile gaming and opens the show by claiming that the Exynos 2200 is the chipset gamers have been waiting for.
Once again, Samsung hasn't said anything about exact performance figures, save for the fact that the enhanced NPU (Neural Processing Unit) should deliver 2x AI computing power improvements over the previous solution.
VRS, AMIGO, and lag-free 108MP mobile photography
A couple of gaming-oriented features employed by the Exynos 2200 chipset and highlighted in the latest official teaser video are VRS and AMIGO technology.
VRS is short for “Variable Rate Shading” and helps map out dynamic scenes at more stable framerates. AMIGO technology monitors power consumption at the component level for longer gaming sessions on a single battery charge.
Aside from gaming, the latest flagship-grade chipset from Samsung features an upgraded ISP (Image Signal Processor) that delivers lag-free 108MP photography, as per the official introduction video below. Furthermore, the Exynos 2200 SoC has the first Exynos modem to support 3GPP Release 16 for a faster and more stable connection.
The Exynos 2200 will debut with the Galaxy S22 flagship series and coexists with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC from Qualcomm. As usual, the Galaxy S22 will be equipped with the Exynos solution in some markets and the Snapdragon SoC in others.
