With the foldable smartphones it has released so far, Samsung has shown the world that it's serious about this form factor. The company has also showcased display technologies that highlight its plans to expand its foldable product lineup.
There have been reports that the company is working on a Galaxy Book Fold series of foldable laptops. It's now said that Samsung wants to put these unique laptops on the market soon.
Samsung's working hard to put these laptops on the market
It was reported last year that Samsung had the Galaxy Book Fold 17 in the pipeline. As the alleged name suggests, this foldable laptop would have a 17-inch display. Samsung would market it effectively as a foldable laptop with a touchscreen keyboard instead of a large foldable tablet.
The latest from South Korea suggests that Samsung wants to strengthen its laptop lineup with the launch of the foldable model. It wants to bring the device to market early but it's still unclear whether that will happen this year. The company is reportedly working on several prototypes with 10, 14 and 17-inch screen sizes.
There are some production challenges that Samsung is facing, particularly related to the yield of these large foldable displays. That is what makes a launch in 2022 uncertain. However, some believe that Samsung may reveal a teaser of its foldable laptop at Unpacked 2022 today or later in the coming months.
