The Galaxy Tab S8 series was unveiled today during the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event. It consists of three tablets: Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the successor to the Galaxy Tab S7+, and it brings various upgrades. Let us check out how the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra compares to the Galaxy Tab S7+.
Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has a bigger display, better cameras
Both tablets feature metal bodies and Gorilla Glass screen protection. However, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display is a lot bigger than the Galaxy Tab S7+’s 12.4-inch Super AMOLED display. They both have QHD+ resolution, HDR10+, bundled S Pen, and quad speakers.
When it comes to cameras, Samsung has made massive improvements to the front-facing camera so that people can have better video calls and conferences. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has two 12MP cameras with 4K 60fps recording and can automatically keep the user’s face in the center of the frame even when they’re moving around.
At the rear, both tablets have 13MP main cameras with autofocus, but the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra can record 4K 60fps videos while the Galaxy Tab S7+ can’t. The new tablet also has a slightly higher resolution ultrawide camera (6MP vs 5MP).
Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra offers faster performance
Samsung has equipped its new flagship tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 8GB/12GB/16GB RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB storage, and a microSD card slot. It performs better than the Galaxy Tab S7+.
It also runs Android 12 out of the box and will get four major Android OS updates in the future. The Galaxy Tab S7+ will be updated up to Android 15, one version lower than the Galaxy Tab S7+.
Both tablets feature 5G (in 5G models), GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra features Wi-Fi 6E, too, and Bluetooth 5.2. Despite the new tablet’s bigger, 11,200mAh battery, it will probably last only as long as the Galaxy Tab S7+ does because it has a bigger display that consumes more power.
Samsung's newest flagship tablet is great for media consumption, entertainment, and video calls
If you’re someone who consumes a lot of media and makes video calls, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is a better tablet if you can afford it. It is better for watching videos, browsing the web, and gaming, thanks to its bigger display and a more powerful processor. It is also better than the Galaxy Tab S7+ for video calls as it has a better front-facing camera setup.
