Samsung has been traditionally offering IP67/68-rated designs with its high-end smartphones. Starting with the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy Note 7 series, all Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones have had an IP rating for dust and water resistance. Last year, even Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 had an IP67 rating. Now, Samsung is expanding IP67 durability to even lower-priced devices.
The Galaxy A33 5G, which was announced earlier today, features an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance (up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes). This is the first time Samsung has offered the IP67 rating on a smartphone priced below €350. It should offer even budget smartphone buyers peace of mind while using their devices on the beach, in the rain, or by the pool.
Samsung brings IP67 water resistance to more affordable phones
In comparison, no other brand offers an IP67 rating on a smartphone that's priced as low as the Galaxy A33 5G. While Samsung is removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from its mid-range phones and the charger and earphones from the box, hopefully, the company will inspire other brands in offering an IP67 rating for even mid-range devices.
