After the whole Galaxy S22 GOS (Game Optimization Service) debacle, Samsung had announced that it would let users disable GOS with a software update. The update was first released in South Korea and then in Europe. Now, the new software is rolling out in India as well.
Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra in India. It comes with firmware version S90xEXXU1AVC9 and includes the March 2022 security patch. After installing the update, you can disable GOS, and you might see a slight uplift in gaming performance, at least for the first few minutes.
The new update also brings improvements to camera stability, device security, and the overall stability of the phone. The March 2022 security patch fixes more than 50 security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy devices. After installing the update, you can even notice a new update for Game Plugins via the Galaxy Store.
To disable GOS on your Galaxy S22 series device once the new update is installed, you need to open Game Launcher and head over to More » Game Booster » Labs, and then turn on Alternate game performance management. Let us know if you've noticed any changes in your smartphone's gaming performance and temperature.
Samsung's CEO apologized for the GOS issue during the company's annual shareholders' meeting yesterday. The South Korean FTC has already started an investigation against Samsung regarding the performance throttling issue.
Thanks for the tip, Rajesh!
