The successful Galaxy A5x series is getting a sequel this year. You may have already seen the Galaxy A53 floating around thanks to leaks and rumors, but the device was officially announced moments ago, so it's time to put an end to the guessing game.
If you're considering making the Galaxy A53 your next phone, you should be able to place an order (in select markets) beginning April 1.
The Galaxy A53 costs the same as the 2021 model
Samsung hasn't detailed which ‘select markets' the Galaxy A53 will grace first, but in the UK, it has a starting price of £399 / €369, and we can assume that the phone will start shipping within the next couple of weeks. The 256GB model costs €449 in Europe.
£399 / €369 is the same entry-level price with which the Galaxy A52 was associated at launch. However, the 2022 model improves the successful mid-range formula in a few ways and boasts an improved Android OS upgrade policy that guarantees four major Android updates and five years of security patches.
The phone lost the wall charger and 3.5mm headphone port along the way, but it retains expandable storage and ships with Android 12 (One UI 4.1).
