After debuting One UI 4.1 with the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung had announced that the new software would soon be released to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 were the first phones to get the One UI 4.1 update. Now, the Galaxy S21 series is getting the newer version of One UI in the US.

The latest software update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G99xUSQU5CVC4. It brings the One UI 4.1 update, the March 2022 security patch, and the option to turn off GOS (Game Optimization Service). The update is currently rolling out on Sprint and T-Mobile's network in the US. More carriers could release the update soon.

If you are a Galaxy S21 series smartphone user in the US on any of the networks mentioned above, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Galaxy S21 One UI 4.1 features list

The One UI 4.1 update brings the option to shoot portrait videos with the telephoto camera and the option to capture images and videos using the telephoto cameras in Pro and Pro Video modes. It also brings the option to save videos from front and rear cameras in separate files in the Director's Mode. With the updated Gallery app, users can add portrait effects to any image with a person in it and adjust portrait lighting. It also allows users to share multiple pictures and videos as an album with multiple people via a link.

With updated AR Emoji, GIFs from Tenor can be added, and real-world objects can be turned into 3D stickers. AR Emojis can be worn as masks, and the background color can be changed. The update also introduces Smart Widgets and notifies users about various things such as charging earbuds or getting ready for an upcoming event.

With One UI 4.1, Google Duo supports Live Sharing, which lets users watch videos, plan routes, and browse through images together on the video call while sharing their screen. Samsung Health shows deeper aspects of a user's health and fitness through better sleep coaching and tips for reaching body composition goals.

Samsung Notes brings the option to keep track of clipped items. More screen real estate can be freed up on tablets by showing the S Pen toolbar on the phone. Smart Switch now offers three options while transferring data to a new Galaxy device: transfer all data, transfer only accounts, contacts, calls, and messages, or a custom choice.

The new update also brings the ability to remind users to take things they left behind via SmartThings Find. Users can share lost items with their friends so they can find them together via SmartThings Find. Improved Quick Share offers the ability to share Wi-Fi networks and editing history for photos so the receiver can see how it was edited.

Other new features include the Color Palette feature in more apps, including the ones made by Google. Samsung's stock apps now offer suggestions, including the suggested title and time of an event while adding it from messages or emails. Users can add emojis and stickers in the Calendar app. More keyboard layouts and languages are added to Samsung Keyboard. Bixby Routines now brings the ability to change the watch face and activate Battery Protect. Virtual RAM can be customized with One UI 4.1.
