Samsung has almost completed releasing One UI 6.1 to all eligible devices. With that, the company is now focusing more on One UI 6.1.1. Last week, we learned that the brand has begun testing the new software for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, and yesterday, it started updating its apps with support for One UI 6.1.1.
Usually, Samsung releases One UI X.1.1 only for foldable devices and tablets, which mainly brings new features related to multi-window. The company makes some of those features available to non-foldable smartphones as well with a software update but without changing the One UI version of those devices.
Samsung could extend One UI 6.1.1 to non-foldable phones
Well, this time, things could be different. Samsung could not only bring some of the features of One UI 6.1.1 to non-foldable phones but it could also offer those with a new version of One UI. That’s right. We are now learning that the brand could release One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S24 series devices.
Tarun Vats has spotted a new firmware for the Galaxy S24 Ultra on Samsung’s server. According to him, this firmware, which carries version S928BXXU2AXF3, packs One UI 6.1.1. If that’s true, it will be the first time Samsung will be releasing One UI X.1.1 to non-foldable smartphones.

Why the change of heart?
Samsung could be planning to offer new features to non-foldable phones with a new version of One UI because this time it is going offer more features than usual. More specifically, it could offer more AI-powered features. So, the brand might want to highlight those by offering them with a new version on One UI.
If Samsung releases One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S24 series smartphones, the company could also extend the new software to other non-foldable smartphones, such as the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 series devices. However, the company might not make One UI 6.1.1 available for mid-range and affordable/entry-level devices.
So far, there have been very few leaks about One UI 6.1.1. According to those, it will offer a vertical scroll option in app drawer, AI-powered video editing features, AI-powered features for drawing on the screen using S Pen, and improved UI design. However, it could bring many more features that we are yet to know.
