Samsung has unveiled its first Galaxy M series smartphone with a 108MP camera: Galaxy M53 5G. It is the company's second mid-range smartphone to have an ultra-high-resolution camera sensor. Despite its name, the Galaxy M53 5G is more akin to the Galaxy A73 5G than the Galaxy A53 5G.
The Galaxy M53 5G sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 108MP primary rear-facing camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, the phone has a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls. The phone can record 4K 30fps videos using front and rear cameras.
The Galaxy M53 5G is also the South Korean firm's first mid-range smartphone with a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset. It's similar to the Exynos 1280 and the Snapdragon 765G in terms of raw power. It uses TSMC's 6nm processor and features two ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores, six ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and the Mali-G68 MP4 GPU. The phone has 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 1TB).
Connectivity features of the phone include sub-6GHz 5G, dual-SIM card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. Other features of the smartphone include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, a 5,000mAh battery, and 25W fast charging. The phone will be available in Blue, Brown, and Green color variants.
The phone runs Android 12-based One UI 4.1 out of the box, and could probably get at least two major Android OS updates in the future. Samsung hasn't announced the pricing and availability of the Galaxy M53 5G yet, but we expect it to be launched in some Asian and European countries.
