Samsung’s Android 13 and One UI 5.0 public beta test could begin by July!

Android 13 developer previews from Google went live nearly a couple of months ago, but Samsung has yet to release any preview builds based on the upcoming update. However, we're hearing that the Korean tech giant is getting ready to begin open beta testing Android 13 and One UI 5.0 within the next three-to-four months.

Our sources tell us that Samsung could start the open beta testing phase for Android 13 and the accompanying One UI 5.0 update by July. This should give beta testers and the company plenty of time to polish the new firmware for public release at the end of 2022 or early 2023 — if recent history is any indication.

Evidently, plans can change, and the tentative July timeframe for the open beta could change as well, for better or worse. But for now, we're hearing that Samsung is aiming to enter the testing stages for Android 13 and One UI 5.0 around midsummer.

Dozens of Galaxy devices — smartphones and tablets alike — are eligible for the upcoming (public) Android 13 and One UI 5.0 update once it leaves beta. As usual, newer, higher-end devices will have priority over others, so the first Galaxy phones to get Android 13 could be the Galaxy S22 and/or the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.

It's worth reminding that the company is also developing One UI 4.1.1 for its upcoming foldable phones in parallel with One UI 5.0. However, One UI 4.1.1 will likely remain exclusive to a few devices, unlike One UI 5.0, which will be more widely available. Either way, not counting beta builds, One UI 4.1.1 will come to the market first.

Stay tuned, and we'll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more about Samsung's firmware update plans throughout 2022. Will you be joining the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) beta phase, assuming it'll be open in your region? Let us know on social media and the comment section below.
