Samsung has revealed its upcoming OLED display technologies, including dual foldable and slideable displays, at the ongoing Display Week 2022 event. The in-person event is happening after a hiatus of three years, so it is interesting to see Samsung's upcoming products in the mobile display category.
The South Korean tech giant has showcased its Flex G OLED display prototype on the show floor. This flexible OLED panel can fold inwards twice for a more portable mobile device. The company also showcased its Flex S OLED display prototype that can fold inward as well as outward.
Samsung Display also demoed a 6.7-inch slidable OLED display panel at the event. It extends upwards, unlike existing slideable displays that stretch horizontally. This unique capability can make mobile devices more useful while reading documents, browsing the web, and scrolling through social media apps.
The company also premiered its 12.4-inch slideable display prototype. It expands horizontally from the left and the right to switch between 8.1-inch and 12.4-inch sizes, depending on the user's needs.
Some of these display technologies could come to Samsung Galaxy devices in the future, but there's no particular time frame for any such product. It could take years for these innovative display technologies to be featured in devices that actually hit the store shelves.
