There are times when you need to run the Windows version of an application, instead of its Chrome app on your Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. Until now, the partnership between Google and Parallels allowed enterprise users to run Windows and its apps on Chrome OS. However, the required Chromebook specifications to run Parallels Desktop was an Intel Core i5 or i7 with 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Well, that is about to change, because Parallels has announced that they are expanding support to more Chromebooks, especially lower-powered Chromebooks. Parallels Desktop can now be run on your Chrome OS-powered Samsung Galaxy Chromebook and Galaxy Chromebook 2 equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 and the new AMD Ryzen 3 5000 series. Notably, the RAM and storage requirements remain unchanged.

Users will be able to run full-featured Windows apps both online and offline on the lower-powered Chrome OS Chromebooks. Additionally, Parallels has partnered with HP to offer a 1-year free license on HP's select Chrome OS Enterprise devices. You can check out the full list here. Interested parties can purchase Parallels for $69.99 annually per enterprise user, or $39.99 for education usage.
