Samsung is planning to upgrade the battery inside its upcoming foldable flip phone. Interestingly enough, new evidence suggests that the company is testing two sets of batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. And the great news is that both battery sets have a higher rated capacity than the Galaxy Z Flip 3's dual-battery system.
Like the previous Samsung foldable flip phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be powered by two batteries working together as one. Documents hinted at a 100mAh increase from the 3,300mAh unit inside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 before, but according to recent 3C certification documents (via MyFixGuide), Samsung is also testing a battery combo with a rated capacity of 3,595mAh.
Galaxy Z Flip 4 will address one of the Flip 3's biggest weaknesses
Samsung is testing two batteries that carry model numbers EB-BF723ABY and EB-BF724ABY. The former has a rated capacity of 2,555mAh, and the latter is rated at 1,040mAh. Combined, they have a capacity of 3,595mAh.
The model numbers, particularly the “F723” and “F724” parts, indicate that these batteries will land inside the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
All this information should make guessing the Galaxy Z Flip 4's battery specs easier, but they don't. 3C refers to both of these batteries as “secondary,” which could also indicate that each of these batteries is destined for different Z Flip models. After all, Samsung could release three foldable phone models later this year, as per earlier reports.
Or perhaps Samsung tested both batteries but will decide on which one to use as the secondary unit for the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Whatever the case may be, the biggest takeaway is that Samsung is planning to upgrade the Z Flip series' battery. Time will tell if it's by 100mAh or more, but flip phone fans should welcome any improvement on this front.
