Google unveiled its upcoming high-end smartphones, the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, quite early. However, the company did not go into detail regarding the specifications of its smartphones. Now, some information regarding their displays has been revealed.
According to a report from 9To5Google, the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro will continue using OLED panels from Samsung Display. The company has reportedly created two display drivers—C10 (Cheetah) and P10 (Panther)—which are the same as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro's display drivers. It means that Google will continue using last year's OLED panels from Samsung in its 2022 smartphones.
The Pixel 7 will have a 6.4-inch OLED panel (S6E3FC3) with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 7 Pro will feature a 6.71-inch OLED panel (S6E3HC3) with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones have HDR10+ compatibility and a center-aligned punch-hole-shaped cutout for the selfie camera.
Although the Pixel 7 series features identical display hardware to the Pixel 6 series, it is unclear if Google will bring optimizations through the software. It was revealed that the company is finally bringing 1080p display resolution mode with Android 13.
