WhatsApp keeps getting better, and as you may know, the platform recently added the long-awaited emoji message reactions feature. Developers are now ready to move on to something else, and it looks like the next major update to the popular messaging app could be one of the best yet.
WhatsApp could finally add an option to edit messages. The feature discovered by WaBetaInfo exists in a new beta version for WhatsApp on Android, although the editing feature should also be planned for iOS and desktop.
As to when the option to edit messages could exit beta stages and go live to the public, only time will tell. It is worth noting that the first signs of an edit function in WhatsApp popped up five years ago before the development team seemingly gave up on the idea a few days later.
WhatsApp developers are clearly working on the messaging editing feature again, but whether or not it will make it to the live version of the app remains to be seen.
WhatsApp could shelve this idea again, or it might see it come to fruition this time. But even Twitter is considering adding an editing button, so it could be time for WhatsApp to do the same. We'll keep you posted.
