Samsung admits to error, removes iPhone reference from Members app

A Samsung Community Manager recently made an error and published a promotional banner on the Samsung Members app featuring a generic iPhone model. Thankfully, the company owned up to its mistake and mended the banner's design while issuing a follow-up statement.

A Galaxy Store representative on the official community forums made a statement that reads: “Hello, this is Galaxy Store. The person in charge made a mistake in the process of modifying the design source file. The banner image will be modified and replaced today. Thank you for your interest in Galaxy service. We will try to provide better service.” (via Android Authority)

No harm done, but Samsung should do better

Indeed, the banner promoting Galaxy Themes got redesigned and now features a generic Android phone with a punch-hole camera rather than an iPhonesque display notch. See the image gallery below for a direct comparison.

This is probably a case of a designer using stock/generic images and resources to create a promotional banner without realizing that they're referencing the iPhone. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, and it's not like Samsung's entire mobile division was on board with this. Galaxy phones are still as good as they were, and Samsung won't start selling you iPhones.

But although this appears to be just a simple error that slipped unnoticed, it is one occurrence in a string of many. It's just odd that, even now, Samsung seemingly lacks a high enough level of scrutiny to avoid these mishaps on social media and even the Members app.
