The Galaxy A52 is among Samsung's best-selling mid-range phones. It was launched in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard. How many updates will it receive in the future, and how long will you be able to use it?
Android 14 was Galaxy A52's last major software update
Samsung promised to release three major Android OS updates to the Galaxy A52. Since it was launched with Android 11, it was meant to be updated till Android 14. The phone received the Android 12 update in late 2021, Android 13 in late 2022, and Android 14 at the end of 2023.
Moreover, the Galaxy A52 received a dozen additional features with the One UI 6.1 update, which arrived last month. This was the last major update for the phone. It won't get Android 15 and One UI 7.0, but it will continue receiving regular security updates for another year.
Upgrade to a Galaxy A55 if you want more big OS upgrades
If you always want to use the latest software features, you may have to upgrade to a newer phone, like the Galaxy A55 (read our review). The Galaxy A55 comes with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box and will get updates till Android 18.
If you are satisfied with the A52's current feature set, you can use it for at least another year. If you feel like the phone's battery life is no longer good enough, a battery replacement can help address that.
