After becoming the first smartphone to offer VoNR calls in the US, the Galaxy S22 has recorded another achievement. Samsung's latest flagship smartphone achieved record download speeds over the mid-band 5G network in the US.

T-Mobile has announced that it achieved download speeds over 3Gbps on its mid-band 5G using the Galaxy S22. The cellular network operator used carrier aggregation to combine three 5G bands to accomplish this result. The test was performed on commercial hardware and the retail unit of the Galaxy S22.

The company used two bands on its 2.5GHz spectrum (n41) and one band using the 1.9GHz spectrum (n25) to achieve speeds previously only seen on mmWave 5G networks. A total of 210MHz of the spectrum was used. Since the test was performed on the mid-band spectrum, it was free from mmWave-related connectivity and range issues.

T-Mobile has deployed only two 5G bands in the US, and the third band is yet to be officially launched. The company will slowly expand carrier aggregation of three bands across the US so more devices can enjoy improved speeds.
