It seems like WhatsApp is quite busy developing some new features for its chatting platform. Recently, we reported that WhatsApp was working on animated heart emojis for Android. New reports by WABetaInfo show that WhatsApp is developing some fun features for the chat app. Notably, WhatsApp is working on letting users use avatars during video calls.
Moreover, users will also be able to send avatars as stickers in groups or individual chats. You need to head over to the “Avatar Editor” to create your own avatar and use it in various scenarios. Reportedly, WhatsApp has been working on developing its own Memoji or Bitmoji competitor since March, and now we are seeing some progress in that direction as now you can use your avatar during video calls and as stickers.
The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows a “Switch to avatar” button during the video call. However, do note that this feature is under development, and is not available in beta. Also, there is no concrete information available on whether this feature would see the light of the day, let alone its release date. Before rolling it out to all users on both Android and iOS, WhatsApp will take its own time testing out the new feature.
