We exclusively revealed a few days ago that the One UI 5.0 beta update will be released in the third week of July and that it will bring updates to speed and animations. Now, One UI 5.0 features and design have been leaked ahead of the official announcement.

The folks over to 9To5Google were able to get their hands on the beta version of Android 13-based One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22 series. The publication has revealed the design of Samsung's upcoming software and some new features.

One UI 5.0 features, design, and animations improvements

Samsung has made slight changes to the notifications center. The app icons in notifications are bigger, and the background's opacity has changed. This is just the unfinished and unreleased version of One UI 5.0 Beta and more changes could show up in public beta version of the new software.

The company has also changed the app permission pop-up menu. It now appears in the center of the screen and follows the same design as stock Android 13. The new design quickly grabs the user's attention and shows two buttons clearly. The company has also added a UWB (Ultra-Wideband) toggle in the Connections section of the Settings app.

Samsung has also added OCR (Optical Character Recognition) across the UI. The built-in Gallery app can now detect text from images so you can copy and share it easily. The OCR feature has also been added to Samsung Keyboard, which means you can easily copy text from the camera feed or an image and add it to your email or messages.

The South Korean firm has also improved the design of the Security and Privacy Hub. Most security and privacy-related features are now listed on this screen, including lock screen options, user accounts, Find My Mobile, app security, Google Play system updates, and privacy features. The About Phone section now shows an image of the device.

Samsung has also added two new gestures in the Labs section: swipe for split-screen multitasking and swipe for pop-up view. One UI 5.0 also shows currently active apps in the quick settings area. It also brings collaboration to Samsung Notes. According to the leaked screenshot, you can share your notes with up to 100 other users, and they can all see live changes instantly.

With One UI 5.0, the company has also improved the speed and smoothness of animations and transitions. You can see new and tweaked animations in the video embedded in the tweet below. It is rumored that Samsung hasn't added many features to One UI 5.0 and will bring more design changes and features with One UI 5.1 early next year.
