Samsung fans and foldable phone enthusiasts can now finally pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in anticipation of their August 26 release on store shelves. And although the two new foldable phones offer tons of features in exchange for their premium prices, a wall charger isn't one of them.
In case you're wondering what's inside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 retail boxes, or more specifically, whether or not these premium phones ships with a wall charger, the answer is no. As some of you might recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 5G were the last foldable devices to ship with a charging brick. The Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 didn't have one, and unsurprisingly, the 2022 series follows the same philosophy.
Samsung is following industry standards
If you're thinking that Samsung's motivation for removing the wall charger is to earn pennies on a couple of phones that costs almost $3,000 combined, you'd only be partly correct. In reality, Samsung is following market trends and the European Commission's guidelines to minimize electronic waste. And it is not the only OEM to do so.
But to answer the titular question: the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 don't ship with a wall charger in the box in most markets. Samsung is willing to sell you one separately. And in select markets where different consumer laws apply, customers might be able to acquire a charger for free upon buying the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Z Flip 4 if they know to ask for it. Generally speaking, however, the new foldables aren't paired with a charger.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 sports a 4,400mAh dual battery with 25W fast charging and 11W wireless charging capabilities. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is equipped with a 3,700mAh dual battery. Samsung customers who don't own a compatible wall charger and don't wish to buy one after spending $999 or $1,799 on a new phone can use the data cable that ships with the phones to recharge them via a powered USB-C connection from a PC, laptop, or other similar devices.
