Repairing a Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Z Flip 4’s cracked screen will cost just $29, but there’s a catch

Samsung is doing all it can to increase the adoption of foldable phones. With its fourth-generation Galaxy Z series devices, the company has improved the durability and usability of its foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 have thinner hinges and bezels. Their screens will also cost lower to get repaired.

In the US, getting a cracked screen on an out-of-warranty Galaxy Z Fold 3 used to cost $249, and that's when you're subscribed to an $11 per month Samsung Care+ plan. This year, Samsung is bringing down that price to just $29, similar to the screen repair cost for slab-style Galaxy smartphones. Yes, you still need to be subscribed to the Samsung Care+ plan, but that's one step the company has taken to reduce the cost of owning a foldable phone.

While Samsung hasn't reduced the price tag of its foldable phones, it is trying to make them more feature-rich, more durable, and less costly to repair. The Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold series of devices are still the only ones in the world with an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

All these steps should give most users a much-needed boost in confidence to buy foldable phones. Have you owned a foldable phone yet? If yes, what niggles have you faced on your foldable device? Let us know in the comments section below.
