If you are in the market for a full-fledged Android smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro could fit the bill. They bring upgraded tech, improved ECG and BP functions, sapphire glass, and a bigger battery. It is everything that you would want out of a premium smartwatch. However, there is one thing that is missing from the new watches: Camera Controller.

The camera controller feature only supports high-end Galaxy smartphones

As per a report by TizenHelp, several Galaxy Watch 5 owners have reported that the camera controller feature is missing on their smartwatch. Yes, this basic function isn't available on some Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro smartwatches. Now, the question arises, why is that so?

The answer is that the camera controller supports only high-end Galaxy smartphones. Notably, it works only with the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z devices. This is per the Camera Controller app's description on the Galaxy Store. It reads, “only premium smartphones will get the support.

To be more specific, if you own a Galaxy S9 (or newer), Galaxy Note 9 (or newer), Galaxy Z Fold (or newer), and Galaxy Z Flip (or newer) phone, your watch will show a camera controller. Samsung needs to rethink this strategy and bring support for mid-range devices in the Galaxy A, Galaxy F, and Galaxy M series.
