Samsung is not only the world's biggest smartphone brand but also the world's biggest maker of mobile OLED panels. Apple uses Samsung Display's best OLED panels each year in high-end iPhones. And the same is expected to be true for the next-generation iPhone series, the iPhone 16.

iPhone 16 and Pixel 9 could use Samsung's M14 OLED panels

According to a new report, Apple and Google's flagship phones could use Samsung Display's M14 OLED panels. These are Samsung's next-generation flagship OLED panels, which are rumored to be brighter and more durable than the existing generation (M13). They will reportedly be used in the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and the Pixel 9 series.

The M14 OLED panel reportedly features a newer material with 14 components. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to use a 6.3-inch panel, while the iPhone 16 Pro could have a 6.9-inch screen. The iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus will reportedly use older-generation M12 panels, also used in the iPhone 15.

The entire Pixel 9 series, consisting of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, is also said to be equipped with Samsung Display's M14 OLED panels.

Watch our Galaxy S24 Ultra review in the video below.

The Galaxy S24 series uses Samsung Display's M13 OLED panels, which can reach peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits in certain conditions. Of course, the all-screen Average Picture Level (APL) brightness levels are much lower than the peak brightness. The Galaxy S25 series could also use Samsung's M14 OLED panels.

Hopefully, Samsung will bring the Tandem OLED technology to its flagship phones and tablets in the coming years. This technology is already used in OLED panels used by Apple for its newest iPad Pro lineup. It features two OLED layers for higher brightness and much longer durability.
