Alongside two next-gen foldable phones, Samsung will unveil a new version of One UI tomorrow. The One UI 6.1.1 update is not yet official, but through it, Samsung will most likely add fresh Galaxy AI tools to its repertoire. One rumored Galaxy AI feature for One UI 6.1.1 was nicknamed AI Graffiti about a week ago, and now, we have a small preview of its capabilities.
As some of you might recall, last week, a rumor emerged from @UniverseIce on X, suggesting that One UI 6.1.1 will add an innovative drawing tool to the Galaxy AI toolset.
Supposedly, this tool enables One UI 6.1.1 users to convert simple rough sketches drawn on top of existing photos into much more realistic and detailed representations. It sounds ingenious and might be one of the more clever uses of the powerful Generative AI techniques Samsung is now offering through its flagship phones.
A powerful tool for manipulating Generative AI
Today, the same source followed up with a preview of said feature and shared two side-by-side photos on X. One image shows a photo painted over with a rough drawing of a butterfly resting on a child's finger.
The other photo demonstrates how far Samsung's new Galaxy AI feature can manipulate a simple sketch. It turned that rough drawing of a butterfly into something that looks realistic — almost perfect. It seems to work very well, and we can't wait to try it out and share more with you tomorrow from Unpacked and after.
This new Generative drawing tool is probably but one addition to Galaxy AI via the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Z Fold 6. But Samsung should have more clever things to demonstrate. And, of course, we don't expect this Generative drawing tool to remain exclusive to the new foldable phone forever.
It also remains to be seen whether this new Generative feature works only with the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or is also available for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, even though the latter doesn't have S Pen support. Evidently, we're hoping for the latter.
Galaxy Unpacked 2024 takes place tomorrow in Paris, and anyone can watch the live stream online once the show starts. Stay tuned, and remember that you can still register for or reserve the upcoming phones and wearables for exclusive bonuses.
