Samsung is the king of software updates in the Android ecosystem. Its quick and long-term software update support forced even Google to do better for Pixel phones. Last week, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 6, and being a high-end phone from the company, it will get software updates for a long time.
How long, exactly?
Galaxy Z Flip 6 will get software updates for seven years
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 runs Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, and Samsung has promised to release major Android OS updates and security updates for seven years. That means the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will get updated to Android 21 (One UI 13?) in 2031.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the world's first Galaxy Z Flip series phone to get a seven-year software update support promise.

Samsung has also promised to keep the Galaxy Z Flip 6 updated with security updates for seven years from the date of the phone's launch. While the phone will likely get monthly security updates for the first four years, the South Korean firm could gradually reduce the frequency of security updates in subsequent years.
What is new on Galaxy Z Flip 6 with One UI 6.1.1?
With One UI 6.1.1, Samsung introduced several Galaxy AI features, including Sketch to Image. This feature is available in three places: Samsung Gallery, Samsung Notes, and a separate app. It lets you draw a rough sketch of anything and then turn it into a more artistic version. In the Gallery app, the feature converts rough sketches into realistic-looking objects.
It also brings Flex Camera improvements (Auto Zoom and Flex Camcorder), Instant Slo-Mo for HDR10+ videos, Portrait Studio, Live Effects, Motion Clipper, and overlay language translation for photos and videos in the Gallery app. It has also introduced ExpertRAW's AstroPortrait feature to the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
