Enterprises can now manage Galaxy Watch fleets through Knox

Samsung's Knox Manage is one of the best enterprise tools for device fleet administrators. It's designed to be intuitive and easy to use and allows IT administrators to remotely manage fleets of Galaxy smartphones securely. Thanks to a new update, the platform now supports Galaxy smartwatches.

Knox Manage is used by countless enterprise customers to manage their mobile fleets, and according to Samsung, the platform now serves more than 150 million devices globally. And with the newly added support for smartwatches, that number might soon skyrocket.

More specifically, Samsung says the cross-platform mobility management solution now supports wearable devices that run Wear OS 4.0 or higher. That should include the Galaxy Watch 4 (if it has the Wear OS 4 update installed) and sequels, including the latest Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7 models.

Galaxy Watches can now be enterprise devices

Although Samsung doesn't sell Galaxy Watch Enterprise Editions through its business portal, this update to Knox Manage technically makes Wear OS 4.0 and newer smartwatches enterprise-grade.

The story continues after the video

Businesses can now add smartwatches to their mobile device fleets, and IT administrators can remotely configure, track, and manage them, just as they can do smartphones. Knox Manage administrators can configure the following parameters:

OTA updates, factory resets, power saving, volume adjustments, language settings, mobile networks, WI-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, notifications, app permissions, location settings, data roaming, airplane mode, contacts, and Wi-Fi and APN configurations.

It's unclear if employees can bring their own smartwatches to work or if this added support means business owners have to buy the wearables. Last year, Samsung made it easier for employees to bring their own smartphones to work by adding an attestation solution to Knox Manage, which allows administrators to assess the security level of a device.
