Last week, Samsung confirmed that select Galaxy A and Fan Edition tablets will get a taste of AI through an upcoming update that will add the Circle to Search feature. And it looks like that update is now rolling out for the Galaxy A55.
The Circle to Search update is available for the Galaxy A55 in Vietnam, according to a Reddit user who shared a couple of screenshots. The firmware version is A556EXXU4AXH1, and the update weighs nearly 850MB. It also includes the September 2024 security patch.
By the looks of it, the Circle to Search feature for the Galaxy A55 works pretty much as you'd expect. Pressing and holding the home navigation button or the gesture bar at the bottom of the screen brings up Circle to Search, after which users can tap on-screen objects or circle around them to find out more through Google Search.
Bringing back the vividness slider!
Another big component of this update, aside from Circle to Search, appears to be the addition of the vividness slider in the Galaxy A55's display settings.
As some of you might know, Samsung recalibrated its screens earlier this year with the release of the Galaxy S24 series and One UI 6.1. It removed the vividness slider but brought it back to the Galaxy S24 through a firmware update in February.
According to screenshots shared by this lucky Galaxy A55 user on Reddit who received the Circle to Search update, the new software version also introduces the long-awaited vividness slider to the Galaxy A55. Thanks to this addition, Galaxy A55 users can finally adjust how vivid they want their screens to be.
To grab the latest firmware update and check if this new release is available in your region, open the Settings app on the Galaxy A55, access “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” If can check our firmware section for manual updates.
Other phones and tablets that will get the Circle to Search feature include the Galaxy A35, 2024 mid-range models, and the latest Fan Edition tablets.
