Samsung has brought the Circle to Search feature to the Galaxy S21 FE. When Galaxy AI was introduced in early 2024, Samsung brought most of its features to flagship phones launched in 2022 and later.
Flagship phones launched in 2021 only received the Circle to Search feature as part of the Galaxy AI update. However, for some reason, the Galaxy S21 FE didn't, unlike the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, despite all four phones sharing the same Exynos and Snapdragon chips.
But that changes this week: Circle to Search is now available for the Galaxy S21 FE. It is bundled in the phone's August 2024 security update.
Circle to Search enables users to circle or highlight any text or image on the display to run a Google search on it without leaving the app they're using. They can identify any item they see on a website, photo, or video by simply long-pressing the home button or gesture handle.
Circle to Search replaces Google Assistant on devices that support Galaxy AI. The latter is still available, but it has to be accessed by swiping in from the bottom left or bottom right corner of the screen.
The latest Galaxy S21 FE update also comes with the August 2024 security patch, which fixes 50 security vulnerabilities in Android and Samsung One UI.
The update debuted in Vietnam, but it will come to other markets soon. To download the update, tap the Download and install option in the phone's Settings » Software update menu. Alternatively, download the latest Galaxy S21 FE firmware from SamMobile and install it on the phone using a Windows PC and a USB cable.
Thanks for the tip, Yiğit!
