While most phones and tablets are waiting for the One UI 6.1.1 update, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has just received its One UI 6.1 update. Other devices received this update months ago. There is no explanation as to why the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite received the One UI 6.1 update so late.

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite gets several new features with One UI 6.1 update

The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has started rolling out in South Korea, and it comes with firmware version T225NKOU8EXH2. It includes the July 2024 security patch to make the tablet more secure. If you have a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and live in South Korea, you can now install the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install.

This might be the last major software update for the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, as it has already received three Android OS updates—Android 12, Android 13, and Android 14—since its release in mid-2021.

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite One UI 6.1 update: All new features

The update brings a new wallpaper editing feature. You can customize your alarm using custom backgrounds (AR Emojis, images, or videos) and a custom layout for where the alarm text should be displayed. You can customize your calendar with more stickers. You can add up to two stickers for each date in the Samsung Calendar app. The sticker will be displayed next to the calendar entry. The background color for the calendar's notification can also be customized. The Calendar app's settings have also been revamped.

You can also customize reminder notifications using custom backgrounds, images, and colors. In the Reminder app, you can set a custom icon for each category and pin your favorite category to the top. Search quality inside the Gallery app has also been improved. You can categorize photos and videos by albums, people, places, and stories.

You can turn off/on Modes from your home screen and change their order. You can also run Routines with more conditions, such as when the alarm starts ringing or when Smart View is started or ended.

The tablet also gets the new and improved Quick Share feature, which integrates Google's Nearby Share feature. The update also lets you sync web browser tab groups between all your Galaxy phones and tablets via the Samsung Internet app.

The Weather widget now shows more information, such as major weather forecasts (heavy rain, heavy snow, or thunderstorms) in your area. You can input text using voice dictation without hiding the keyboard.

You can also open all minimized pop-up windows at once. You can search for matching terms on Google Search directly from the Finder bar in the app drawer. One UI 6.1 also brings more ways (Basic, Optimized, and Maximum) to protect your tablet's battery.
