Samsung's LPDDR4X DRAM memory chips, designed for automobiles, have received qualification from Qualcomm to be used in its Snapdragon Digital Chassis platform. The memory chip can be used in premium Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

This qualification is a result of Samsung's long-term support to its partners with newer and innovative automotive semiconductor products, a stable supply chain, and enhanced support for ecosystem partners. The South Korean firm also announced that it is already working on the fastest LPDDR5 DRAM chips for the automotive market. It has the industry's highest data transfer speed of 9.6Gbps, which can be maintained even under extreme temperatures.

Hyunduk Cho, Vice President and Head of the Automotive Group at Samsung Electronics’ Memory Business, said, “With a broad automotive lineup of AEC-Q1001-qualified DRAM and NAND products, Qualcomm Technologies is an ideal partner to work with for long-term customer solution.

Samsung makes all kinds of memory chips, including DRAM and NAND flash. Its newest DRAM chips for computers, servers, and smartphones include DDR5 and LPDDR5X, while its memory chips for AI servers and GPUs include HBM3E and GDDR7.
