Samsung says lots of young people are buying its AI home appliances

Samsung is all in on AI this year. It all started with the launch of the Galaxy S24, its first ‘AI Phone,'  earlier this year. And over the past few months, Samsung has launched several AI-equipped home appliances and TVs. The company now claims its strategy has been a hit, as over half the people buying its AI appliances in its home country are young.

Half of the people buying Samsung's AI home appliances are young

In South Korea, over half of all the people buying Samsung's AI-equipped home appliances are young (aged in their 20s or 30s). While people buying multiple appliances are from all age groups, ranging from 20s to 60s, most people buying two or more AI-equipped home appliances are most in their 20s or 30s.

Samsung claims that young people prefer to spend more money on AI-equipped home appliances because they want to spend less time managing their chores. Apparently, singles and newlyweds are buying more than one AI appliance at once, and many people who buy the Bespoke AI Combo (Dryer + Washer) are also buying the Bespoke AI Steam (called Jet Bot AI in the US and other markets). Sales of Samsung's AI WindFree Air Conditioners have also skyrocketed in South Korea during the summer.

Samsung has set up ‘AI Lounges' in 96 Samsung Stores in South Korea to showcase all its AI-equipped home appliances. Visitors to those stores can scan a QR code to easily experience the ideal AI Home. Samsung's AI Sale Fiesta, which brought offers on its AI home appliances, was scheduled to end by the end of August, but due to popular demand, Samsung has extended it by a week to September 8, 2024.

In the future, people could use a home robot like Samsung's Ballie to control their home appliances through voice commands in natural language. Ballie can follow people and do things like telling what's in the refrigerator and what they can cook with those ingredients. Ballie can also turn into a security camera, keep an eye on pets, and project videos on the wall. Watch it in action in our video below.

Samsung has plans to bring some AI features to all its mobile devices and home appliances in the future. Most of its high-end phones and tablets have already received Galaxy AI features, while newer mid-range phones and tablets have also received one Galaxy AI feature: Circle to Search.
