There are a ton of smartphone brands around the globe. However, currently, only four of them make their own chipsets for their devices, Apple, Google, Huawei, and Samsung. Well, soon, another brand might jump on the bandwagon, Xiaomi.

Back in June, a report from TrendForce claimed that Unisoc and Xiaomi have partnered to develop a 4nm chipset for smartphones that Xiaomi will use in its upcoming devices. Well, today we have some more information about that chipset.

Xiaomi's upcoming SoC's specs and launch timeline leak

According to a reliable tipster, Yogesh Brar, Xiaomi will get its upcoming chipset manufactured by TSMC on its 4nm, N4P fabrication process. He claims that the chipset will have a modem developed by Unisoc and the performance of the SoC will be similar to that of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which came out in 2021. Lastly, Yogesh says that Xiaomi will reveal the chipset in the first half of 2025.

The story continues after the video…

This isn’t the first time Xiaomi is trying its hand at making chipsets. In 2017, the company launched its first in-house developed SoC, the Surge S1, which it used in the Xiaomi Mi 5c. However, the brand didn’t launch any chipsets after that, mostly because it may have been less viable for the company compared to using Qualcomm’s, MediaTek’s, and Unisoc’s SoCs. Well, Xiaomi is now re-entering the space.
