Samsung has detailed its newest security update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The September 2024 security update could start rolling out to the company's devices soon, and some phones might get it as a part of the One UI 6.1.1 update, while others will just get the security update.

Samsung's September 2024 security update fixes 67 vulnerabilities and loopholes

A day after Google released the September 2024 security update to its Pixel phones and Android in general, Samsung revealed the newest security patch for its phones. The September 2024 security patch fixes 67 vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. 44 of those 67 vulnerability fixes come from Google, while Samsung devised 23 fixes.

Of the 44 fixes offered by Google, one is marked as ‘Critical,' while 32 are termed ‘High' in priority. The vulnerability fixes offered by Samsung are mostly marked as being ‘High' or ‘Moderate' in importance. The South Korean firm has explained some of the security vulnerabilities it fixed with the September 2024 security patch. It found issues in One UI's WindowManagerService, My Files, Theme Center, performance monitoring tool, One UI Home, Samsung DeX, and Samsung Knox.

The story continues after our One UI 6.1.1 hidden features video below.

Samsung hasn't released the September 2024 security patch to any of its phones or tablets yet. However, we expect the new security update to soon start reaching high-end Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S24. New foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6, might also get the latest update within the next few days.

Mid-range and entry-level smartphones and tablets might receive the new security update before the end of this month. Many carrier-locked units might also receive the update a bit later than factory-unlocked models.

What about One UI 6.1.1 update?

The One UI 6.1.1 update debuted with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and was expected to be released to other devices last month. However, Samsung hasn't released the update yet. This time, the One UI 6.1.1-based update is also expected to be made available for regular slab-style smartphones. Earlier, One UI x.1.1 updates were restricted to just foldable phones and tablets.
