After Samsung, Apple to copy Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses

Last year, Apple unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, the company’s first AR and VR headset. While it is very capable, it isn’t useful for most people in their day-to-day lives as it doesn’t replace a device or solve a problem. Plus, it is very expensive. With all that, not many are buying the product.

Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, on the other hand, are much more useful to people in their daily lives and they are also much more affordable. As such, they are gaining popularity as each day passes by.

Samsung might have noticed that and came to the conclusion that such a product would be do well in terms of sales than a full-blown AR/VR headset and that’s probably why it is now developing smart glasses instead of the XR headset that it was previously working on with Qualcomm and Google. Well, Apple also seems to want a pie of that cake.

Apple is planning to develop non-AR smart glasses

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to develop non-AR smart glasses. In his Power On newsletter, he said “That category has done quite well for Meta Platforms Inc. in recent quarters, so Apple may try to join the party.

At the moment, there’s nothing else we know about Apple’s upcoming smart glasses. However, you can expect it to offer the same capabilities as Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. That means it could feature a camera, a microphone, and a speaker, allowing you to capture images and videos, listen to music, take calls, access voice assistants, and much more.

The story continues after the video…

Expect Apple’s upcoming smart glasses to compete head-on with Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and Samsung’s upcoming smart glasses. If the South Korean tech giant was happy that Apple will not compete with it in this space, the company’s dreams just shattered. Hopefully, we will get to know more about smart glasses from Apple and Samsung soon.
