The new Samsung flagship tablets for 2024 are official, and boy, do they bring some unexpected changes. From ditching the base model to employing a MediaTek chip, these tablets are full of surprises — at least for those who haven't followed the pre-release leaks. And one surprising upgrade that deserves its own spotlight is the new display coating.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra boast an anti-reflection coating for their displays for the first time in the history of the premium tablet series.

The company hasn't offered many details about this new treatment, but the results speak for themselves. You can see just how much better the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra screen is at minimizing reflections by watching our hands-on video below.

Gorilla Armor or not, it's a big improvement

Samsung hasn't specified whether or not its new tablets use the anti-reflective Gorilla Armor display protection. Oddly, it hasn't said much on the matter apart from claiming that these new screens reduce reflections from 5% on the Galaxy Tab S9 series to only 2% on the new Tab S10 duo.

But regardless of which solution Samsung is using, we can't deny that it works wonders. A 3% improvement doesn't sound like much, but our real-world hands-on experience suggests otherwise. The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra screens are clearly more legible in bright environments and direct sunlight. Check out the video below.

When Samsung introduced Gorilla Armor for the Galaxy S24 earlier this year, it kept this type of glass as an exclusive feature for the Galaxy S24 Ultra variant.

Thankfully, whatever kind of treatment Samsung's new tablets got, it's the same on the 12.4-inch and the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra displays. The Plus model wasn't left behind.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra are equipped with Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens featuring refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The tablets ship with the S Pen, which means they're a delight to use for digital drawing or note-taking outdoors.

Samsung's new Tab S10 lineup will hit the global market on October 10. The two tablets are offered in two color options: Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver. Prices start at $999.
