The Samsung Developers Conference 2024 is happening today in San Jose, California, and we’re in attendance to check out all of the new software related advancements that the company is unveiling at the event. It was expected that Tizen will get some love as well, and it most certainly has, in perhaps the most unsurprising way possible.

Samsung’s focus on AI has increased substantially ever since it introduced the Galaxy AI suite of features with the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. The company has announced today that Tizen is bringing its experiences to more devices and services, including the AI Home, a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display found on Samsung’s AI-enabled appliances.

Tizen is getting more powerful with new AI features

Samsung is giving Tizen an artificial intelligence shot-in-the-arm with what it’s calling Tizen AI services. These experiences are powered by Samsung’s Neural Processing Unit and are catered to seamless integration with Samsung products and proactively responding to user needs.

The company says that devices running Tizen AI services will deliver better personalized and safer experiences, such as intelligently controlling echo and noise levels when users are watching TV or making video calls to training on users’ writing styles to help them take notes more effectively.

Samsung has worked hard to improve the interoperability between Tizen and the Galaxy ecosystem, a crucial aspect in making sure that the Android-powered Galaxy devices work effortlessly with Samsung’s Tizen-powered consumer electronics and appliances. Multi-Control is one of the features that makes this happen, enabling users to control both their smartphone and tablet using the same bluetooth peripherals like keyboards and mice. This feature will now be available on smart monitors and TVs powered by Tizen.

Support for Flutter, a cross-platform development framework, has also been added to Tizen. Developers will get ongoing support for extension tools to simplify debugging and profiling. The expansion of its scope and the greater support for developers hints at an ongoing effort to ensure that Tizen remains with the times.
