Samsung’s SmartThings platform continues to go from strength to strength, boasting more than 350 million subscribers and over 350 Works with SmartThings partners who make connected devices that work with Samsung’s smart home platform.
It wouldn’t be a Samsung Developers Conference without a new feature for SmartThings, and that’s precisely what Samsung has given us at SDC 2024 in San Jose, California today. Home Insight is a major update for SmartThings that will help users run a much more efficient smart home.
New SmartThings partnerships also focus on efficiency
SmartThings is a software platform that allows you to easily manage various smart home devices and appliances from one single app. The platform already pulls in data from these devices and now it gets much better at helping you use that data to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Home Insight will analyze usage patterns, user data, device history, and stats from connected devices in the home in real-time to provide personalized recommendations to optimize the home. This may include reminders to power off idle devices while you’re at the office or turn off the lights during the day time.
All of this will be easily manageable through the Home Insight Widget which is also available on the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S10, allowing users to have this device function as a home dashboard in addition to being a very robust tablet.
To further improve the efficiency, Samsung also announced a partnership between SmartThings and Kohler, with the new integration helping users monitor and reduce their water usage through smart shower heads and faucets.
In addition to this new collaboration, Samsung has also shed some light on new partnerships for a wider variety of SmartThings-compatible home devices. The company has teamed up with smart key developers Schlage and Agara to bring the SmartThings Door Lock function to Samsung Waller’s Digital Home Key next year.
