Samsung has launched the Galaxy A16 5G in India. This phone was originally unveiled a few weeks ago, when it was launched in the Netherlands. Now, the phone has made it to India but isn't available for purchase just yet.
Galaxy A16 5G launched in India
The Galaxy A16 5G has been announced for the Indian market. It comes in two variants: 128GB and 256GB. The variant with 128GB is priced at INR 18,999 ($226), while the one with 256GB storage costs INR 20,999 ($249). The phone is available in three colors: Blue Black, Gold, and Light Green. You can buy the phone from Amazon.in, Flipkart, Samsung India website, Samsung Shop app, and other authorized retailers across India.
Samsung is offering a discount of INR 1,000 to those who buy the Galaxy A16 5G using a credit card from Axis Bank or SBI.
Galaxy A16 5G features
The Galaxy A16 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. It has a 13MP selfie camera, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 5MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. It can record 1080p videos at 30fps and 720p slow-motion videos at 120fps.
The phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor with two Cortex-A76 CPU cores running and 2.4GHz and six C0rtex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz. It has the Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU that takes care of graphics and gaming. The chipset is paired with 8GB RAM. There are two storage variants of the phone: 128GB and 256GB. It has a microSD card slot (up to 1TB) for storage expansion.
The phone comes with Android 14 (One UI 6.1) out of the box. Samsung is promising to release six major Android OS updates to this phone, which means it will be updated to Android 20 (sometime in 2029).
Samsung has powered the Galaxy A16 5G with a 5,000mAh battery. It supports 25W fast charging via its USB 2.0 Type-C port. The phone's connectivity features include GPS, 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. It has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, too. The device measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 192g.
