The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are picking up the latest security update from Samsung this week. The October 2024 security update is rolling out to the last two Galaxy Note models in Switzerland, and we assume the update will soon arrive in other European markets.
A release outside Europe may take a few days or even weeks. That's because the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are on a quarterly update schedule and updates for devices on that schedule tend to have a slower global rollout than devices on a monthly schedule.
The latest Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra update can be identified by a build number ending in the characters HXJ1. There's nothing in this update except the latest security fixes. The October patch addresses 30 vulnerabilities in Android, two of which are considered critical as they can cause memory corruption.
The patch also fixes a dozen vulnerabilities that affect only Galaxy devices, in addition to a couple of vulnerabilities that affect Galaxy smartphones powered by some Exynos chips, including the Exynos 990 inside the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.
To download the latest update on your phone, open the Settings app on it, scroll down and tap Software update, then hit the Download and install button. The latest Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 firmware are available for download on SamMobile as well.
