Earlier this week, Samsung announced three new features for Samsung Health. The company said the update will start rolling out soon. Indeed, the update has started rolling out. It brings barcode scanning for food logging, Health Records, and visual search to add your medications.

Samsung Health update brings three new features

Samsung has released a major new update to Samsung Health. Version 6.28.1.005 of the app is now available via the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store. You can download it on your phone from either of those two sources. It has a small update size of just 3.84MB, so you don't have to worry about your download limit at all.

As per the changelog, Samsung Health now lets you log what you eat by scanning the barcode on that food item. However, this feature is limited to certain countries and has been brought through integration with a popular food logging app called fatsecret. The update also brings the Medications feature to India and South Korea. The feature now lets you use the camera (Visual Search) to make it easier for you to add your medications.

Samsung has also added a personal health record management feature called Health Records. If you live in the US, it allows you to fetch your medical reports from clinics, hospitals, and diagnostic centers. The changelog also mentions bug fixes and background improvements.

The story continues after our Galaxy Watch 7 vs Galaxy Watch Ultra video below.

The Medications feature is done via 1mg integration for the Indian market. Apart from tracking your medications, timings, doses, and reactions, it allows you to refill your medication through 1mg, a popular drug store in the country. In South Korea, the medication tracking feature was launched through integration with the Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center (KPIC). In the US, Samsung partnered with Elsevier to bring warnings for over 960 potential allergies and complications.

In the USA, the company has tied up with b.well Connected Health, which maintains the biggest electronic medical record (EMR) system. Samsung has also partnered with Athenahealth, Cerner Health, Epic Systems, and Veradigm to bring you informative alerts and meaningful insights based on your health records.
