Since Samsung launched its first foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Fold, there have been rumors about the company lowering the prices of such devices. However, that never happened. The company reportedly plans to launch a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip this year.

Apparently, the company will launch the Galaxy Z Flip FE, which might have an Exynos chip.

Galaxy Z Flip FE might use Exynos 2400 chip

According to tipster @Jukanlosreve, Samsung is planning to use the Exynos 2400 chip in the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip FE. While the report doesn't reveal when the company is planning to launch the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip, looking at the chipset, it is possible that we might see the phone sometime next year.

The Exynos 2400 was launched earlier this year, and it debuted with the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+. This chip is a massive improvement over the previous-generation Exynos processor, the Exynos 2200. However, it still isn't as good as its MediaTek and Snapdragon counterparts.

The recently released Galaxy S24 FE uses an underclocked (running at lower speeds) version of the Exynos 2400, called the Exynos 2400e. While it is theoretically slower, in day-to-day conditions, most users can't notice a difference in the performance of those chips.

Exynos chips have received a lot of flak from consumers in the past due to lower performance and overheating/performance throttling-related issues. However, the Exynos 2400 doesn't have such problems. So, it might actually be a good choice for the Galaxy Z Flip FE.
